BBC World News To Launch New Magazine Show In Africa
BBC World News is rolling out a new weekly programme, In Business Africa, to explore the trends shaping Africa's future.
In Business Africa will be presented by Lerato Mbele-Roberts and Nancy Kacungira.
Kacungira, a seasoned journalist from Uganda and the winner of the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award, will present the show from Lagos, Nigeria.
Mbele-Roberts will host the show from Johannesburg, South Africa. Together, the ladies aim to change the way African stories are told by showcasing some of the continent’s most amazing business stories to global audiences.
Each week, In Business Africa will look at significant changes and progression happening in Africa.
In Business Africa is a magazine-style show that will consist of a mixture of discussions, interviews and informative features about a variety of business topics from the African continent. With 16 BBC News hubs across Africa, the show will also benefit from the knowledge provided by a network of correspondents.
Charlie Villar, the Chief Operating Officer at BBC Global News, said that there is a growing appetite from global viewers for African news. He added that with two of the continent’s most established business presenters, and some of the world’s greatest African journalists, In Business Africa would highlight the BBC’s commitment to Africa by delivering fresh, high production value programming that clients would want to partner with.
In Business Africa will be aired every Friday at 18:30 GMT, with its repeats aired on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and on Wednesdays.
In Business Africa will be supported by a variety of special features on BBC.com/InBusinessAfrica.
