Big Brother Nigeria 4th Season Production To Be Moved From Johannesburg To Lagos
M-Net West Africa and MultiChoice Nigeria have announced that a new season of Big Brother Nigeria will be filmed in 2019.
Production of the anticipated 4th season of Big Brother Naija is moving from Johannesburg, South Africa to Lagos, Nigeria.
M-Net and MultiChoice announced at a press briefing at the George Hotel in Lagos that auditions for Big Brother Naija’s 4th season would take place on the 1st and 2nd February in 6 different cities in Nigeria, including Lagos, Enugu, Calabar, Ibadan, Benin, Port Harcourt and Warri.
Ebuka Obi-Uchendu will once again be the host of this upcoming 4th season, with the former housemate who presented the second and third seasons.
The upcoming season will be the second time that Big Brother Naija has been filmed outside of South Africa since it was launched in 2006.
After 2016, the second and third season were both produced in South Africa and shown in Nigeria and all across sub-Saharan Africa on DStv.
The new season will be aired after the general elections in Nigeria for three months over 90 days.
MultiChoice Nigeria's Manager for Sales and Marketing, Martin Mabutho said that the fourth season of Big Brother Naija would be bigger than previous editions and that it would strengthen MultiChoice's position as the most significant driver and investor of entertainment content on the African continent.
Mabutho added that from a cost perspective, it had always been a good idea to share the Big Brother house in South Africa so that all the African versions of the show could make use of the house.
He said now MultiChoice was now ready to host the show in Nigeria and still maintain the global standard that the show is known for.
The Big Brother house in Nigeria is currently under construction and will be ready in time for the production.
