Global Content Hub By Zee Signs Drama Co-production Deal In Africa
Global Content Hub by Zee has announced that it has inked a co-production deal with Nigerian agency MACE, and Multimedia Group from Ghana, whose channels Adom TV and Joy Prime will broadcast the new drama series titled Deceptive Measures.
Deceptive Measures is a remake of the largely popular Indian series Pavitra Rishta, which is recognised as one of the most internationally successful Indian drama series ever filmed. The original show has been aired in more than 20 countries. The story is about a middle-class girl, who is not highly educated but keeps her house in an impeccable state. Everyone depends on her; however, it is only her brother and her mother who genuinely value her. Her mother is on a mission to find a good life partner for her daughter.
The series is filmed across Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana and the first season will offer 52 one-hour episodes. Well-known actors from Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria will star in the series, namely Michael Godson, Joy Jasmin Aygeman (Adomaa) and actors from the three other countries.
Uduak Obong will be directing the series.
This is the second African co-production from Zee.
The first collaboration was Khwaabon Ke Darmiyaan a glamorous drama series about real estate tycoons, starring Ivory Coast actor, Ahmed Souane.
The 2016 co-production was between India and Zee in Dubai with RTI from the Ivory Coast. The show turned out to be a huge success that broke ratings records in the United Arab Emirates.
The Chief Business Officer of International Ad Sales in the Global Syndication and Production of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), Sunita Uchil said that Global Content Hub by Zee is ecstatic to announce its mutually beneficial partnership with Ghana’s Multimedia Group and Nigeria’s MACE for the remake of the Indian programme Pavitra Rishta.
Uchil declared that sharing this story with new audiences across Africa would be exciting and she added that it would be highly fascinating to see how the African co-producers would adapt the series into their own identity.
The Chief Business Officer stated that Zee looked forward to creating more partnerships throughout the African continent.
