eNCA Is The News Channel With The Highest Viewership Ratings On DStv
eMedia Holdings has released its interim results for the six months period that ended on 30 September 2018.
eMedia is the mothership of eNCA, eTV and Openview.
The company announced that it made an impressive profit from continuing operations of R48.4 million ($3 472 046,60 USD) for the six month period – compared to a profit of R18.8 million ($1 348 044,60 USD) in the previous period.
eMedia declared that its revenue reflected an increase of 5.3% closing off the period on R1.2 billion ($86 081 400,00 USD), despite the challenging economic conditions that the market is currently experiencing.
As part of the results, the company mentioned that Openview set-top box activations reached 1.432 million as of September, which is a steady increase from 1.008 million in the prior period.
It said that eTV’s market share had also remained “fairly constant”, but had shown an increase in a key revenue driver – LSM 8 to 9. This moved up from 11.80% market share to 13.90% market share.
Another interesting piece of information reflected by the results is that eNCA completely dominates the news scene on DStv.
The company said that eNCA is consistent, continues to perform well and continues to be DStv’s 24-hour news station that is watched more than any other news channel, boasting over 50% market share.
eMedia also stated that the advertising revenue in eNCA still shows healthy growth, ending the period on R57 million ($4 090 390,68 USD), which is an increase of 10% from the R52 million ($3 731 745,16 USD) in the previous year.
