Nkateko Mabaso Appointed As New CEO Of M-Net

MultiChoice has announced that Nkateko Mabaso has been appointed as the new CEO of M-Net in Sub-Saharan Africa with immediate effect. He had been made the Acting CEO in February this year and has now been placed permanently as the official CEO.

Mabaso is the successor of Yolisa Phahle who has now moved on to the position of CEO of General Entertainment for the Video Entertainment division.

Phahle has expressed her support for the new CEO by saying that Mabaso had been appointed because of his continued commitment and contribution to local programming that viewers love and watch in increasing numbers year after year.

She added that Mabaso is passionate about the African continent’s film and television industry and wished him much success in this very significant new role.

Mabaso has come a long way since joining M-Net in 2009 as a Marketing Manager for Channel O and Vuzu. In 2013 he was promoted to General Manager of M-Net’s local entertainment channels, and during this era, M-Net enjoyed a significant increase in audience numbers and advertising revenue.

The natural leader was then promoted to the position of Group GM for M-Net South Africa in its entirety in 2016. Based on his very impressive track record in the broadcasting space, it is safe to say that M-Net has been placed in highly capable hands.
