Nigeria: BON Appoints Dr Oluyemisi Bamgbose As New Executive Secretary

Mr Oluyemisi Bamgbose, PhD, has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary of Broadcasting Organisations Of Nigeria (BON), BMA can reveal.

BON's 74th General Assembly meeting held in Abuja on June 3, 2021, ratified the appointment.

Mr Bamgbose has extensive broadcasting and advertising experience. In 1983, he began his broadcasting career with Ogun State Television. In 2010, he got promoted to Director of Production Facilities, and in 2014, to Assistant General Manager Marketing, before retiring as Permanent Secretary in 2018.

In 1990 he graduated with a Diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos, a Bachelor of Science in Guidance and Counselling from Olabisi Onabanjo University in 1998, in 2003 a Personnel Psychology Masters degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University, a Masters degree in Mass Communication from Babcock University in 2020, and a Doctor of Philosophy-PhD Applied Psychology from Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2014.

From 2008 to 2016, Dr Oluyemisi Bamgbose was the National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) and the National Auditor of the Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) from 2015 to 2019.

He is an active unionist. He attended numerous seminars, conferences, and workshops, including the 56th, 64th, 65th, and 66th International Broadcasters Conferences in Amsterdam, Holland, General Assembly meetings of the Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria, UNI Communicators' Forum Nyon, Switzerland, 2010 and 2012, and the Conference of Unions in the Media and Entertainment Industry in Mexico in 2010. In 2012, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention in Geneva, Switzerland; in 2013, the Conference of Unions in the Media in Argentina; in 2014, the UNI GLOBAL World Congress held in Cape Town, South Africa; and in 2017, the Uni Africa 4th Regional Conference held in Dakar, Senegal.

The Broadcasting Organisations Of Nigeria is confident that Dr Bamgbose's extensive experience will meet the organization's problems. Dr Oluyemisi Bamgbose will enhance the Secretariat and will be available to address concerns at any time.
