Nigeria: Stalled Digital TV Migration Programme To Restart "Very Soon" - Govt. Minister
Nigeria's Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, has said the country's faltering Digital Switch Over (DSO) programme will be resumed - "very soon". Talking to press in Lagos, Nigeria, the government minister regretted that the migration process has to be put on hold after hitting the buffers post-implementation in only six out of Nigeria's thirty-six states.
Reiterating the government understanding of the clear benefits of digitisation, especially in the area of job creation, he reconfirms the commitment to the completion of the DSO programme as soon as possible.
To this end, the Nigerian Information and Culture Minister said that the government would, very soon, be announcing a coherent plan on the restart of the digital TV migration programme. When pressed on details of "very soon," Mr Mohammed said, "very soon means in a matter of weeks".
The Nigerian government also said that it is ploughing on with the overall restructuring of the country's creative industry to reposition it as an agile, globally competitive industry.
