StarTimes Nigeria Signs Movie Production Deal With Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello)
There are indications that the signed deal is worth millions of Naira (currency used in Nigeria). This deal allows Mr Salami to produce an initial 26-episode series of the show, in the Yoruba language (commonly spoken by the people in southwestern Nigeria).
The programme which will be exclusively for StarTimes.
The Chief Operating Officer of StarTimes Nigeria, Mr Tunde Aina, confirmed that the company was in talks with 'Oga Bello' on the production of such show and promises that they would make more information available when the time is right.
However, sources close to the deal have informed BMA that production has already started in Ibadan (a southwestern state in Nigeria) with some notable talents in the movie industry listed in the cast.
Mr Adebayo Salami launched into the movie industry in 1964 with a group popularly known back then as Young Concert Party. After the group went through three different change of names and the demise of the leader, Adebayo Salami took on the mantle of leadership, and this brought him into the limelight in the movie industry.
Salami since 1985 has featured in, directed and produced several Yoruba films that have earned him his place in the Nigerian Entertainment industry. One of the works that spread his fame far and wide is a Nigerian Comedy series known as Comedy half hour. It was in this series that he got the stage name “Oga Bello.”
