Nigeria: Broadcast Regulator (NBC) Sanctions 78 Media Outfits In Quarter 4 Of 2017

The regulatory body for the Nigerian broadcasting and media industry, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), has said it issued a variety of sanctions against 78 broadcasting and electronic media organisations in the country between October and December of 2017.

According to the Director-General of the Commission, Mallam Ishaq Modibbo Kawu, the sanctions were several and severe. He urged all broadcast practitioners to uphold the ethics of their profession and stick to the stipulations of the Nigerian Broadcasting Code.

The statement indicated that the sanctioned stations cut right across the country and many of them fined for what was termed as "hateful and inciting broadcasting".
