South Africa's CELL C Looks To Further Acquisition To Drive Growth

CELL C, South Africa's third-largest mobile telecommunications company, is pursuing more acquisitions to enable it to expand its services as grow its seemingly stagnant revenues.

According to reports from Bloomberg South Africa, the company is seeking to expand into other industrial verticals to provide financial-related products and internet services.

According to Mr Jose dos Santos, CELL C's chief executive, the company is well positioned to pursue this strategy having reduced its debt substantially (by over 70%) and also securing additional investments, chiefly from another South African telecom services company - Blue Telecom.

Last November, CELL C launched its video streaming and OTT TV platform - "Black" - to challenge the likes of Netflix, Amazon Video, Showmax etc. Now the company wants to do more.
