Cell C Enters Africa's OTT TV and VOD Market With "Black"; In Partnership With Vubiquity

BMA understood that Cell C (a South African mobile telecom operator) is entering the OTT TV and VoD market with content provider Vubiquity. Cell C is coming to this market with the brand "Black" and will offer sports, kids and family entertainment packages. The new service is set to debut on November 14th.

According to a statement from Mr Jose Dos Santos, Chief Executive at Cell C, he believes that his competitive edge in this market will come from his pricing structure which is aimed at the mass market. 'Black' it is said will provide access to more than 5000 movies, music and documentaries and will include both international and local content.

It should be recalled that Cell C have already been involved in the content services game and have launched two programmes i.e Break the Net and Hangman" on the South Africa eTV channel. Adam Poulter, Chief Executive at Vubiquity says his company is proud to be working with Cell C to provide innovative video services to its customer base.
