Airtel Kenya Rolls Out Free Internet Access To Learning Websites Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic
Airtel Kenya has announced that it will offer free internet access on the Longhorn e-learning site to allow students to continue studying amidst the rise of the coronavirus pandemic.
The service will be available in Kenya until schools reopen.
The Managing Director of Airtel Kenya, Prasanta Das Sarma said that this initiative would be with the aim to empower the students by using its technology and making sure that students remain positively engaged in their learning process through this difficult time.
Das Sarma said that this would help the learners continue learning while out of school, and also open up a new world of opportunities for their future.
The MD added that a good number of learners are already using the portal since its official launch last week.
The learning material can also be accessed on Windows and Android mobile platforms, as well as on SMS.
On Monday last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta called on the nation’s businesses to help Kenyans cope during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In response, Safaricom waived its mobile money fees, and Kenya’s banks also announced that they would assist by to renegotiating loans and scrapping online banking fees.
