MultiChoice Makes Premium SuperSport Channels Available On Lower-Tiered DStv Bouquets
MultiChoice is making its premium SuperSport channels available to lower-tiered bouquets in South Africa amidst a national lockdown that has been actioned as a response to the rapidly growing number of coronavirus infections in the country.
The pay-TV operator has made some of its channels freely accessible on the DStv Now streaming platform.
Pay-TV services globally are grappling with how to make up for content that subscribers had already paid for, but that isn't happening because of postponements and cancellations due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In Germany Sky is giving all its customers free access its Sky Entertainment and Sky Cinema packages for the next month.
In France, Canal+ announced that it would be making its service free for two weeks.
Canal+ is doing the same across all African nations where it operates. The pay-TV operator announced that all its subscribers in Africa would be able to access all channels until the 30th of April 2020.
MultiChoice said that the SuperSport 1 and SuperSport 7 channels would also be available to lower-tiered DStv subscribers until the 30th of April 2020.
In addition, MultiChoice also made CNN International available to DStv Access and DStv Family subscribers.
