MultiChoice Partners With Microsoft For Digital Transformation
MultiChoice started to show an interest in Microsoft four years ago when the company began to explore the use of Azure as a platform. Since then, the relationship has grown significantly, and MultiChoice is now running test and production workloads throughout its business.
During the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, MultiChoice proved the power of cloud technology when it streamed the semi-final and final games of the tournament to subscribers in 4k on the Microsoft Azure platform.
Alkis Flemetakis, the Account Director for Enterprise Commercial at Microsoft, said that MultiChoice had chosen Azure as a crucial platform on their journey to cloud.
Another development, which will be rolled out next year, is automated highlights packages for sports. MultiChoice has indicated that it will be using Azure to produce highlights packages in real-time for use, not only on live broadcasts but also on social media.
MultiChoice has also leveraged the power of Microsoft's partnerships with leading media partner solutions that operate on Azure. This will help in the modernisation of the broadcast value chain, with an easy transition in operations as well as minimal upskilling of staff.
