Modibbo Kawu, Nigeria's Broadcast Regulator Boss Suspended From Office - Reports

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly suspended the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Ishaq Modibbo Kawu, from his office.
Sources that work in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation said that Modibbo got the suspension letter last week but had been trying to have it reversed.

The suspension that was monitored on AIT on this past Friday takes immediate effect and is concerning a case of corruption involving him and pinnacle communications, the signal carrier that is heading the Abuja digitisation exercise.

The case against Pinnacle and Modibbo is being tried by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), for allegedly committing fraud amounting to $6.8 million.

The suspension of Modibbo by Buhari was requested of the ICPC, pending the conclusion of the case.

AIT has reported that the Senior Director of the Commission, Professor Armstrong Idachaba, has been appointed to take over the affairs of the Commission in the interim.

The suspended DG has however denied all the allegations against him.
