BBC Rolls Out Programmes On South Africa's Soweto TV
BBC Africa TV has rolled out programmes in South Africa on the popular free-to-air platform Soweto TV.
The deal means that viewers of Soweto TV will now gain access to the BBC's global news show for Children produced by Angelina Jolie My World, the multi-award-winning investigative show Africa Eye, a weekly fitness, food and health programme Life Clinic, and the women's talk show #TheSheWord.
All four programmes have been hugely successful on leading TV channels across the African continent, but this is the first time that such a wide selection of BBC Africa-made TV programming has been shared with viewers in South Africa via free-to-air television.
All shows are broadcast at primetime on weekday evenings.
· My World - Saturdays 7 pm (SA time)
· Africa Eye - Mondays 7 pm (SA time)
· #TheShe Word - Wednesdays 7.30 pm (SA time)
· Life Clinic - Tuesdays 7.30 pm (SA time)
Simon Kendall, a Business Development Director at BBC World Service, said that BBC is delighted that audiences in Gauteng and across South Africa will now be able to enjoy an exciting offering of BBC programmes through this new deal with Soweto TV.
He added that BBC looks forward to working closely with Soweto TV and to building on this exciting new opportunity in South Africa.
