DStv: Norman Munzhelele Takes Over As Acting Managing Director At TV News Channel eNCA
Jeremy Maggs has with immediate effect left his position as acting Editor-In-Chief at the TV news channel eNCA (DStv 403), saying that he is stepping down because of stress, a month and a half after the dismissal of news boss Kanthan Pillay in mid-December last year.
Jeremy Maggs, who is also a news anchor on eNCA, had been acting Editor-In-Chief at eNCA for the past year but decided to step down because he could no longer cope with the stress-load which he said was impacting his life negatively.
The news channel has announced that Norman Munzhelele is taking over as the acting Managing Director of eNCA.
Munzhelele has been with the eMedia Investments group for over three years.
The channel said that Jeremy Maggs would continue to co-anchor SA Tonight - the prime-time news timeslot he had originally anchored before leaving to join the afternoon slot.
Jeremy Maggs issued a statement earlier this week announcing his decision to step down from his position as Editor-In-Chief due to stress that was contributing to his poor health.
He added that this had not been an easy decision but was in the best interests of both himself and that of the station.
Antonio Lee, the COO of eMedia Investments in a statement said that eMedia Investments acknowledged Jeremy’s contribution during his term as acting Editor-In-Chief, and accepted his wish to step down.
