South Africa: News Channel eNCA Switches To High Definition (HD)
The South African TV news channel eNCA (DStv 403) will today (13 January 2020) switch to a high definition (HD) feed, using a new curved LED video wall that it claims will be the biggest in-studio screen used by a TV channel in Africa.
eNCA’s switch to HD comes over 11 years after the channel from eMedia Investments was rolled out on MultiChoice’s DStv satellite pay-TV platform. eNCA will now be carried on DStv as an HD news channel across South Africa and other countries within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
The new HD studio is eNCA’s latest revamp and it comes six months after the news channel’s last studio make-over that received lukewarm reviews from viewers and the industry.
Joe Heshu, the Head of Corporate Affairs at MultiChoice, said that in line with MultiChoice’s purpose of delivering excellent quality content and entertainment to the viewers, eNCA’s introduction of its high-tech HD studio on the pay-TV platform is just another way of ensuring that MultiChoice can play a role in actively supporting the growth of the local TV industry and also create lasting collaborations with regional stakeholders which will result in the success of the sector.
