9Mobile Joins Forces With NPFL And Next TV For OTT Broadcast Of Nigerian Football League
Nigeria’s communication network, 9Mobile has signed into a partnership between Next TV and the League Management Company (LMC) for the broadcast and production of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Chairman of the LMC, Shehu Dikko and other top executives witnessed the inking of the Memorandum of Understanding between Next TV and 9Mobile at the headquarters of the League Management Company recently in Abuja, Nigeria.
Dikko commented on the broadcast agreement and disclosed that the broadcast deal with Next TV stands on four pillars and would allow the free-flow of investment into the NPFL with a five-year projection of approximately $200m.
He said that the first pillar of the agreement is the most important because it is all about getting investment into the NPFL and ensuring that football keeps running and operating in a professional way.
Dikko explained that the second pillar is about producing NPFL matches through the investment of NEXT TV’s support and technical expertise.
Prince Malik Ado Ibrahim, the Chairman of Next TV, described the collaboration as a Nigerian venture and urged all Nigerian citizens to embrace it.
He said that Nigeria is going to go beyond OTT and would ultimately ensure the delivery of quality content that can project the NPFL. The acting Director of Marketing at 9Mobile Layi Orafowokan said that the telecoms company would provide its customers with an exclusive bundle that would cover access to the over-the-top (OTT) platform.
