DStv Concludes Assessment Of ZBC’s 24-Hour News Channel
It has been announced that MultiChoice (DStv) has concluded its assessment of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation’s (ZBC) 24-hour-news channel which aims to increase access to Zimbabwe’s relevant news as well as government policy information.
This was revealed by Zimbabwe’s Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa during a post-cabinet media briefing in Harare earlier this week.
Mutsvangwa said that this project seeks to facilitate the rollout of a free-to-air news channel that will be accessible throughout the country and SADC Region using DStv to decrease the coverage limitation of terrestrial transmission services.
She added that now that the assessment of the TV channel by Multichoice (DStv)had reached completion, the signing of the contract and the launch of the channel would follow suit and this was to be expected by the end of this month.
Mutsvangwa further revealed that an Outdoor Public Viewing Screen (OPVs) had been installed at Nyika growth point in Bikita, Zimbabwe.
The OPVS is expected to be entirely roofed, and its electrical components should be fitted, configured and test-run by the end of this month, according to Mutsvangwa.
