A+E Networks Attempting To Renegotiate Contract Renewal With MultiChoice - Reports
A+E Networks, which will see its set of popular channels including Lifetime, History and Crime+Investigation Network disappear from DStv at the end of October, is reportedly trying to negotiate a new deal with MultiChoice, according to insider sources.
Furious DStv subscribers have remained up in arms about pay-TV operator’s abrupt cancellation of the popular premium TV channels.
The looming cancellation comes after a period of disagreements over carriage fees during contract renewal negotiations, which saw the relationship between MultiChoice and A+E Networks UK break down after MultiChoice remained insisted that it wouldn’t pay the increased channel carriage fees that A+E Networks was demanding for its content as part of their contract extension.
Insiders have revealed that A+E Networks executives have expressed an interest in reopening negotiations with MultiChoice over its three channels in the aftermath of the failed discussions that saw both sides walk away.
Various South African production companies are upset, saying that they were kept in the dark about A+E Networks not securing a channel renewal.
Producers say that they still don’t know what is going and what will happen to their shows that have already been commissioned and scheduled for 2020.
