Nigerian Music Distribution Service, Songroute, To Allow Artists To Share Songs To Radio Stations
The Nigerian music-streaming and distribution service Songroute has rolled out two new features that will allow artists to share their music directly to blogs and radio stations.
Owned by the African music streaming service provider Playfre; Songroute was launched in June last year. The relatively young music distribution service boasts of a robust database of more than 800 artists, and over 1,000 tracks were distributed in just three months.
The CEO of Playfre Africa, Chika Nwaogu, said that Songroute had recently launched two new services which would focus on helping artists promote their music and drive sales on the platform. Nwaogu noted that the first service would allow the artists to distribute their songs to over 1,000 radio stations globally. The CEO added that the second feature would allow artists to send their tracks to music blogs throughout Africa to get a feature. This would help them reach their fans online and also help them drive more sales.
Songroute offers its users access to approximately 50 million songs for free. To date, Playfre has gained over 5,000 registered users and more than 1,000,000 streams.
