“Time Has Come For Broadcasters To Gear Up For The Ever-Changing Media Ecosystem,” Say Industry Executives At Digital Broadcast Media Convention
At the recently concluded 4th Annual Digital Broadcast Media Convention that was convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) and Broadcasting Organisations Of Nigeria (BON) on the 27th and 28th of August 2019 at the Radisson Blu Hotel –Ikeja in Lagos, Nigeria, it was reiterated that in the rapidly changing media ecosystem, traditional broadcasters have no choice but to equip themselves with all the knowledge and innovation that is necessary in order to keep up.
The Industry Forum examined a variety of critical themes and arrived at essential conclusions and recommendations such as that:
- The broadcast industry in Nigeria requires urgent restructuring if it is to survive the new media onslaught
- Nigeria’s creative industry must be honest when sourcing for funding and financing
- Broadcasters must seek innovative ways to monetise their content in the digital ecosystem
- Practitioners should share ideas on the benefits of convergence and how to achieve these
Both Broadcasting Organisations Of Nigeria (BON) and Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), as event conveners, as well as most participants welcomed the successful event and look forward to similar future summits that will enable the sharing of insights around many more critical broadcasting and media issues.
