New Chairman, Ernest Ndukwe, To Bring Fresh Vibe To MTN Nigeria

The placement of Ernest Ndukwe, a telecom technocrat as the chairman of MTN Nigeria Plc, is an excellent match for his experience and skills, according to industry insiders.

Ndukwe, who is recognised by most as the father of modern telecommunications in Nigeria, is an inspirational leader who puts a great deal of hard work into everything he does.

A highly sought-after resource person both in West Africa and overseas; Ndukwe’s work ethic is expected to have a positive effect on MTN Nigeria.

Fondly called Mr Telecoms, Ndukwe is the former Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Under his governance at the NCC, the ICT industry saw tremendous transformation and growth, leading to what has been known as the era of Nigeria’s Telecommunication Revolution.

Olusola Teniola, the President of the Association of Telecoms Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), said that the appointment of Ndukwe as Chairman of MTN Nigeria is healthy for the industry.

Teniola said that Mr Telecom had provided many telecoms stakeholders with his wisdom and fair opinion as to the state of the industry at large. He added that he looked forward to working with Ndukwe and his board to continue to grow Nigeria’s telecoms industry to its fullest potential.
