Ex Vodafone CEO Joins MTN As Chief Digital, Fintech Officer
The MTN Group has announced that it has appointed Vodacom's ex-Chief Officer of Strategy and M&A, Yolanda Cuba, as its new Group Chief Digital and Fintech Officer.
The mobile operator issued a statement saying that Cuba would join the MTN Group executive committee and that she would be reporting directly to the Group CEO, Rob Shuter.
In this role, Cuba will manage the MTN group's strategic expansion of financial services as well as digital transformation.
MTN said that Cuba brings a wealth of leadership and telecommunications experience to the MTN Group.
Yolanda Cuba was previously the CEO of Vodafone Ghana, and the role saw her named the Telecom CEO of the Year in 2018.
Commenting on her new appointment, Cuba said that this new role would give her the opportunity to drive financial inclusion and digital innovation across the group's footprint. She added that she is looking forward to the new challenge and is thrilled to be part of MTN's leadership team.
Rob Shuter said that he is pleased to welcome an executive of Yolanda's calibre into the MTN Group. He said that Cuba is a highly qualified and experienced executive and that he is confident that Yolanda's leadership would move MTN in the right direction as the company journeys towards building a digital ecosystem.
