M6 Group To Launch New TV Channel Across Sub-Saharan Africa
The CEO of M6 Group, Nicolas de Tavernost, said that the new channel would highlight a line-up of content that is owned by M6 Group.
The group’s goal is to develop this debut international venture building upon the global distribution expertise of the Lagardère TV business that it acquired for $269 million. After the deal receives approval from the French Competition Authority, the final agreement is to be signed at the end of July by the regulatory body CSA.
Before being taken over by M6 Group, Lagardère Active had established both pay-TV and DTT kids’ channels Gulli and TiJi on the global market, and also introduced Gulli Africa and Gulli Bil Arabia across the Middle-East.
Lagardère Active was also responsible for the introduction of TiJi Russia and Gulli Girl in Russia and CIS.
M6 Group has invested $563 million in acquisitions to include the radio station RTL France and is now working towards changing itself into a multimedia group.
The group's operations will focus on four main pillars –radio, TV production, digital and television broadcast.
