Airtel Launches 4G In Niger

Airtel has distributed 4G LTE in Niger. The mobile operator has the largest network in Niger and is now the first operator in the country to roll out a 4G network.

The launching celebration took place last Saturday, June 29, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Niamey.
In attendance was the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Digital Economy and many other highly regarded public figures of Niger.

Pierre Canton Bacara, the Managing Director at Airtel, highlighted the importance of the rollout of Airtel’s 4G network, saying that it would be a significant growth-driver for the Nigerian economy. Bacara noted that the launch of 4G in the country would trigger a new era of accelerated economic growth because of the increase in broadband services.

With the introduction of 4G, Niger will now be counted amongst the world’s most advanced telecommunication markets.

Airtel’s 4G network is said to attain very high speeds; and users can stream HD videos, chat faster, play online, download and share photos and videos instantly. For Niger’s business sector, interconnection, data transfer and work on the mobile will be much improved.

The Honorable Namaro District Chief, Elh Hamani Maiga Abdoul Moumouni confirmed the promise made by the Bharti Airtel Africa Group to continue investing in Niger and to support the nation’s government in the process of digitising the country.

In addition to Niamey, 4G will be available in all the capitals of Niger’s regions as well as in some big cities.
