Kenya: KBC Investigated Over Alleged Fraudulent Deals With MultiChoice And GoTV -Reports
The investigation by the committee on Communication, Information and Innovation was initiated by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, who raised concerns that the Kenyan government is not receiving value for the millions of public funds that were invested in the national broadcaster, according to some of the questions filed in the House.
On Saturday, the Committee Chairman William Kisang (Marakwet West) confirmed that investigations had been launched, noting the significance of establishing a relationship between the national broadcaster and the two private companies.
Kisang told Kenya’s Sunday Nation publication that the inquiry would establish the real agreement between KBC and the two companies and whether the government is getting maximum value for the money it has invested in the broadcaster.
The committee confirmed that it would summon the directors of the two companies and ICT ministry officials led by the Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru.
MPs claim that the management at KBC may have been in cahoots with the two companies to defraud the Kenyan government.
