MainOne Introduces $6Billion Digital Lagos Campaign

The connectivity and datacentre service provider MainOne has announced that it will invest more than $6billion over the next 2-3 years into its Digital Lagos: Broadband for All campaign launched this week.

According to the firm, the objective of the campaign is to allow the digital transformation of Lagos through the deployment of reliable broadband infrastructure across the city.

The CEO of MainOne, Funke Opeke said that the company is keen to join forces with the Lagos State Government and all the other relevant stakeholders in building Digital Lagos.
Opeke noted that to date, MainOne had already invested billions funded by leading African banks.

She added that the company has densified and expanded localised fibre networks in the neighbouring Edo and Ogun States by instaling almost 1,000kms of fibre in collaboration with Facebook.

Opeke declared that the network to be built by MainOne would offer essential connectivity to key state institutions and cover more than 300 government agencies, approximately10,000 State CCTV locations, ISPs, telecom operators and public Wi-Fi hotspots in addition to enterprises.

In Lagos, MainOne's 700-kilometre network covers most population centres and Yaba, where it offers connectivity to the majority of the Yabacon ecosystem.
