Africa’s MultiChoice Talent Factory Programme Collaborates With New York Film Academy To Train Emerging Filmmakers

In a massive leap towards upskilling Africa's up and coming filmmaking talent, MultiChoice's MultiChoice Talent Factory film academy has joined forces with the New York Film Academy (NYFA) that will assist with opportunities and training for students as part of a groundbreaking partnership.

MultiChoice said that the collaboration between the MultiChoice Talent Factory and the New York Film Academy confirms the film school's continued efforts towards developing and empowering filmmakers.

The Director of the MultiChoice Talent Factory, Cheryl Uys-Allie said that this groundbreaking partnership speaks to MultiChoice’s commitment to working together with industry experts such as the New York Film Academy to protect and promote the growth of Africa’s creative industries.

Uys-Allie noted that the Director of the MultiChoice Talent Factory’s East Africa academy Njoki Muhoho is a graduate of NYFA, having studied filmmaking at the academy’s Los Angeles campus. She added that MultiChoice is excited to be partnering up with the New York Film Academy to offer fantastic opportunities to its students and the industry as a whole.

The Vice President of the New York Film Academy, Jim Miller, said that the New York Film Academy is delighted to be a part of the development, enrichment and fostering of storytellers throughout Africa, a continent that has a rich history of creative, dynamic and passionate performing artists.

Miller added that over the years, NYFA had been privileged enough to have hosted hundreds of students from many African countries, who since then had found great success in filming industries when they returned home.
