StarTimes Decreases Pay-TV Fees In Kenya

The rapidly-growing DTH and digital terrestrial pay-TV broadcaster StarTimes is decreasing its subscription prices for its Kenyan market by 50 per cent.

Viewers will now have the pleasure of viewing The StarTimes ‘Nyota’ bouquet daily at $0.25 per day. 
The monthly subscription fee has also been dropped from $42 to $22 on the ‘Classic’ bouquet, and to only $7 for the monthly Nyota fee.

StarTimes has also announced that it will be adding six more brand new channels to its offering, including Star Plus, the National Geographic channel and Fox.

The Director of Marketing at StarTimes, Japhet Akhulia said that these latest changes are expected to lead to a much stronger subscriber offer in terms of content and price. Akhulia added that StarTimes put a lot of effort into offering strategic improvements by adding six more channels that would be key in extending value for money to all its Classic bouquet subscribers.

With regards to the pay-TV operator’s DTH service, StarTimes noted that subscribers that are on its satellite television platform have the option to purchase the ‘Super’ bundle retailing at only $42; the ‘Smart’ option at a fee of $25 or ‘Nova’ for $12 respectively.
