Zee World Set To Premiere First Ever Bollywood TV Show With African Actors

Mehek, a new drama series that was filmed in India, is scheduled to premiere on the Indian-focused entertainment platform Zee World (DStv 166) on Saturday, 6 April. It will be the first Bollywood TV show to have African actors as part of the cast.

The Zee World drama series will include African actors Nomava Kibare, Shonisani Masutha, Ndaba ka Ngwane and Kamogelo Mogale and will be broadcast daily on Zee World.

In February Zee World announced that it was celebrating its 4th year as an African TV channel operating under the management of ZEE Entertainment Enterprise Ltd. (ZEEL). The channel has shown massive growth in ratings since it was launched in Africa 4 years ago.

Mehek is a story about an aspiring chef looking for love, as well as the members of a black family from Africa that has come to seek a better life in India. The characters face challenges and tribulations as they embark on this new journey that ultimately brings them unexpected romantic encounters.

The CEO of Zee Africa & Asia Pacific, Harish Goyal said that Mehek is a representation of a significant evolution of Zee World's commitment to providing exciting, innovative and relevant content to its viewers.

He said that Zee is proud of the production and its African actors. The CEO added that furthermore, the series would set a solid foundation for similar productions in the future.
