M-Net And MultiChoice Sell Rights Of Several Shows To The Africa Channel In The United States

MultiChoice and M-Net have sold off rights to several locally-produced shows to The Africa Channel which is based in Los Angeles and broadcasts throughout the United States.
Unfortunately, according to industry insiders, none of the actors, crew, talent or writers will be getting any residuals for their work on those shows, and this is reported to be a massive concern for the individuals involved.

The Africa Channel will be adding a selection of M-Net series along with some SABC shows to its primetime schedule this year, including shows such as ‘High Rollers’, ‘The Wild’,  ‘The Wedding Bashers’ and ‘The Hostess’.

The Africa Channel's Vice President for Programming and Acquisitions, Karen Juve issued a statement saying that The Africa Channel had been extremely lucky to be able to have access to a piece of the increasing pool of talent from Africa and beyond.

She added that the world-class content was diverse, bold and globally appealing to the North American audiences.

SABC3’s drama series ‘Hard Copy’, as well as  Mzansi Magic’s ‘iNumber Number,’ among others, will be enjoyed by American viewers on The African Channel.
Cooking with Siba which was on The Food Network has also now been picked up by The Africa Channel.
