MTN Appoints New Executive To Drive Group's OTT Music Services
Akideinde has been given the responsibility of piloting MTN’s newly acquired music streaming platform, Simfy Africa.
According to a statement released by the telecoms giant, Akideinde’s appointment will be effective as from February. MTN said that this new appointment would enhance the mobile operator’s digital music streaming services to its subscribers throughout Africa and the Middle East.
Prior to joining MTN, Oyebowale was at Boomplay Music where he worked as the Regional Director for West Africa.
MTN stated that his career ran over 17 years mainly in financial, e-business, consumer goods, media and digital sectors.
He had also previously worked in the IT sector, strategy, project management, marketing and in the product and business development fields.
The statement issued by MTN declared that Oyebowale has an MSc in Business Information Systems from the University of Hertfordshire, a General Music Studies Specialist certificate that he received from Berklee College of Music and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Lagos.
Akideinde has also received many accolades and industry related awards throughout his career.
The President and CEO of the MTN Group, Rob Shuter said that MTN is delighted about Oye’s appointment as he brought so much passion and knowledge of the media industry. Shuter added that Akideinde’s experience put him in an excellent position to support MTN’s delivery of OTT digital services to its subscribers.
