ZEEL's Zee World Channel Celebrates 4 Years In Africa And Plans To Broadcast First Locally-Produced Content

Zee World (DStv 166), the Indian-focused channel is celebrating its fourth anniversary in Africa this month. To celebrate its rapid viewership growth within the continent, the TV channel will broadcast its first locally-produced content from April 2019.

According to ZEE Entertainment Enterprise Ltd, Zee World's 4th anniversary in Africa is a significant milestone for Zee World that has seen massive growth in its African viewership.

Zee World peaked at its highest rating ever in Africa and South Africa in September 2018 with more than 200% growth since the channel was launched in February 2015 as African viewers tuned in to enjoy the Bollywood content that the channel broadcasts across the continent.

ZEEL said that the rise of Zee World from 2015 to 2019 had shown tremendous upward growth in revenues and ratings alike.

When Zee World launched in 2015 it offered four fresh hours on Mondays to Fridays; and then it added the 5th hour in 2016, also showing five series for seven days a week since 2018.

The latest innovative offering from Zee World will be its first locally produced content that will be aired on the channel from April 2019.

Zee World is now available in high definition (HD) to all MultiChoice's DStv customers in Southern Africa.

In a recent brands and services survey, the Broadcast Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) listed Zee World amongst the "channels that are rapidly gaining traction in South Africa.

According to ZEEL, Zee World remains among SA’s top 3 channels and is the number one most watched channel in leading markets in East and West Africa including Nigeria and other development community countries in Southern Africa.
Zee World’s CEO for Africa and Asia Pacific, Harish Goyal said that Zee World is a success story. He added that the channel’s continuous growth in ratings showed that Zee World had gained a very loyal and essential viewership. Goyal pledged to build on this viewership by consistently providing engaging and innovative programming to the viewers.
