StarTimes Adds Plus TV Africa: 24-hour News Channel To Its Offering

StarTimes, the leading digital Pay TV Company has announced that it will be adding PLUS TV Africa, a 24-hour news channel which will be available on all StarTimes bouquets and on Channel 308 on digital terrestrial television (Antenna).

According to a statement issued to THISDAY recently, the channel is a pan-African station which will offer credible sources of information in business, history, politics, sports, youth engagement, entertainment and much more.

Qasim Elegbede, the Brand and Marketing Director, stated that the new channel is going to raise the bar in quality news reporting and also in the unbundling of complex news stories through thorough analysis that is engaging, informative and empowering.

Elegbede said that Plus TV Africa is proof of StarTimes’ efforts in meeting the demand of its subscribers seeking for more entertainment and news channels. He added that it was the yearnings of the pay-TV platform’s subscribers that led to the launch of Plus TV Africa.

In addition to this new content offering, StarTimes said that it had in recent times upgraded its channel list and platform, enabling customers to watch as much as 80 amazing channels offering news, series, movies, sports, kiddies, religious channels, animal documentaries and lots more.

Kayode Akintemi, the Managing Director/ Editor-in-Chief of PLUS TV Africa also commented on the development and noted that the partnership between StarTimes and PLUS TV Africa was a welcomed development.

He added that PLUS TV Africa’s mission was to change the narrative of news reporting in Nigeria and throughout Africa by providing 24hours of objective, accurate and fair stories with robust and incisive analysis that creates in-depth understanding through content that is informative, empowering and engaging with a view to challenge leadership and offer solutions for economic and political growth.

He also added that consumer brand advertisers and their agencies would now easily reach their target audiences through the Plus TV Africa channel, which will be distributed across all packages on the StarTimes platform.
