Vodacom SA Bags Live Broadcast Rights For The FA Cup 2018-2019
This means that lovers of football, who use the Vodacom network can register for Video Play and enjoy the next five rounds of English football as from January until the final game on 18 May 2019.
The agreement will be effective as from January 26, when Video Play will broadcast five games.
The more intricate details of the deal have not yet been divulged, but in addition to airing live and deferred matches of the tournament, Vodacom will use images and videos related to the competition to promote the Video Play platform.
Vodacom has stated that without being tied to a monthly pay-tv subscription, Vodacom customers will be offered access to live, delayed-live and even catch-up to all their favourite teams participating in the FA Cup, including clips and highlights from as little as $2.51 (R35) a match from any device that they choose to watch from.
Video Play currently has well over one million subscribers. The popularity of the service is accredited to its pricing which also allows access to different content for a day or more, depending on the option chosen by the customer.
As a digital telco, Vodacom has also offered its customers the ability to ‘social share’ their experiences while enjoying their preferred FA Cup content from wherever they are.
The viewers will also get the option to set ‘reminders’ so that they do not miss catching their favourite teams in action.
