Airtel And Coverage Broadband Launch 3flix Mobile TV In Nigeria

Telecommunications services provider, Airtel Nigeria, has signed a strategic deal with Coverage Broadband, an extension of Phase 3 Telecom, to launch 3flix mobile TV service in Nigeria.

The collaboration will enable subscribers to access a unique bundled data plan on Airtel to enjoy 3flix live television channels which offer movies, music, sports, news, fashion, entertainment, documentary, cartoon, lifestyle and comedy amongst others.

The 3flix TV app is specifically designed for smartphones and offers premium television content. The subscription for the service can either be daily or weekly.

The Acting Chief Commercial Officer at Airtel Nigeria, Dinesh Balsingh commented on the introduction of 3flix by declaring that Airtel was committed to creating and supporting such innovative value offerings that would empower more telecoms consumers in the country. Balsingh added that he was excited about the partnership with 3flix as this would enable more telecoms users to enjoy the benefits that come with mobile TV.

Airtel is considered by many to be Nigeria’s number 1 mobile internet service provider and currently has the most extensive 4G network in the country.
On the other hand, the CEO of Phase3 Telecom, Stanley Jegede expressed that the founding of Coverage Broadband together with the subsequent partnership with Airtel Nigeria could be accredited to Phase3. He also stated that while 3flix mobile TV would continue to grow its library of great content, his organisation was particularly excited that the product had been designed using the latest features and technology in the market to accommodate the evolving times and gadget-savvy consumers.

Vikram Bhatnagar, the executive director of Coverage Broadband, said that the entire team was armed with the required expertise to allow 3flix to take the lead in the world of bringing affordable and quality digital content which subscribers could watch everywhere on their mobile device.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) have both granted a mobile TV/OTT broadcast license and a VAS license to Coverage Broadband which is an extension of Phase3 Telecom.

3flix will offer made-for-mobile TV channels with exciting content that is affordable, and subscribers will have the option to stream live TV on the go.
