Nigeria: ATCON Urges Members To Collaborate With NIGCOMSAT For Broadband Penetration

President of Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria, ATCON, Engr. Olusola Teniola has urged telecommunications operators to work with Nigeria Communications Satellite, NIGCOMSAT, to prepare satellite technology for the installation of broadband for socio-economic development of the country.

He said this at the strategic business interactive session between members of ATCON and NIGCOMSAT held recently in Lagos, Nigeria.

Teniola explained that the session was held to inform the majority of operators that they can buy capacity from NIGCOMSAT at a very affordable price. He said that the initiative came from the need to bring NIGCOMSAT’s services to ATCON’s members because it has shown that majority of ATCON members had no idea that they could purchase capacity from NIGCOMSAT and those who did know did not use NIGCOMSAT because they assumed that NIGCOMSAT’s prices were high.

He also added that ATCON’s main focus was to see how members could leverage on satellite technology for the installation of broadband for the socio-economic development of Nigeria. The President of ATCON continued to explain that this initiative would undoubtedly assist the industry in realising its broadband target as set by the federal government.

He declared that the continued existence of members was essential to ATCON and that this strategic business interactive session was designed to create a mutually beneficial business relationship between the members and NIGCOMSAT with an emphasis on broadband penetration across Nigeria.

Teniola made it clear that ATCON was on a mission to bring together all companies in the field of telecommunications and auxiliary services to share industry information, associating, networking, and otherwise improving the position and relevance of the telecommunications industry.
