South Africa Welcomes HISTORY Vault VOD Service

HISTORY’s video-on-demand service HISTORY Vault has been launched in South Africa, making it the very first launch for the platform outside of North America.

History Vault was developed by A+E Networks and was launched in February 2016 in America.

It is targeted at HISTORY fans, information and history lovers. The platform offers classic collections such as Mankind: The Story of All of Us, Mummies Day, Cities from the Underworld, Sex, Drugs and Rock ‘n Roll, Secrets of the Dark Ages and World War II: The World in Crisis. HISTORY Vault will also include HD content derived from over 30 collections in its first three months. New collections are scheduled to be added on a weekly basis.

In South Africa, HISTORY Vault has been made available to DStv customers on Catch Up Plus which can be accessed through DStv Now online or through the app, and also on DSTV Explora set-top boxes that are connected to the internet.

The General Manager at A+E Networks Africa, Yusuf Nabee said that A+E Networks Africa had been at the forefront of digital innovation and had recently launched a pop-up channel dedicated exclusively to the history of football and an app that allows viewers to create user-generated content for the programming of special events. Nabee added that HISTORY Vault further cemented A+E Networks Africa’s commitment to working closely with their partners and offer exciting content in a variety of fresh, new ways.

MultiChoice is thrilled about this new addition to their offer and promises the audience that HISTORY Vault will provide them with hundreds of hours filled with captivating content as they go from climbing pyramids in ancient Egypt to travelling in Space all at the touch of a single button.
