Matt Forde Is New Boss Of BBC Studios International Production And Formats
In this new role, Matt Forde will be overseeing BBC Studios’ nine international production stations and formats businesses outside of the UK - Australia, France, the USA and India together with joint ventures and partners in Germany, Brazil, South Africa, the Nordics and Benelux. The local lead executives in South and South East Asia, New Zealand and Australia will be reporting to Forde on production matters and will continue carrying out the business on the ground.
BBC Studios produces a total of 2500 hours of combined content annually. In this total an estimated 500 hours a year goes towards Factual and Scripted content, Entertainment and Factual Entertainment. The production powerhouse works with the leading British creatives and invests in content outside the UK. Shows such as Luther and The Great British Bake Off are amongst many other popular programmes produced by BBC Studios.
Matt Forde is no rookie in the production industry as he has worked in both Europe and North America in both sales and production leadership roles. He was the head of the BBC Studios’ Los Angeles office since September 2016, and it was there that he championed the development of the Dancing with the Stars brand, even expanding it into spin-offs, namely, Dancing with the Stars Athletes and the upcoming Dancing with the Stars Juniors. Forde also had a hand in overseeing the multi-Emmy® award-winning show Life Below Zero.
Forde will continue to have a direct leadership of the Los Angeles production team and will be reporting to the BBC Studios’ Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director, Production, Anna Mallett.
