South Africa's MultiChoice has announced that from 13-31 July 2018, DStv customers on DStv Access, Family, Compact, and Compact Plus customers will receive access to all 13 SuperSport channels at no extra charge.

MultiChoice said this two-day promotion was its way of thanking customers for their continued loyalty.

MultiChoice South Africa CEO Calvo Mawela said: “Sport is one beautiful way of uniting families and friends and sometimes strangers and that is want to use this opportunity to appreciate our customers for their support and encourage bonding. This open period will afford DStv subscribers to watch the FIFA World Cup final and the third-place playoff match."

Other prominent sporting events that can be viewed throughout the two-day open period include the Super Rugby playoffs, Wimbledon finals as well as the German and Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix.

According to the leading pay-tv firm, subscribers will also be able to stream SuperSport channels live on the DStv Now app.

SuperSport is a South African group of television channels operated by Multichoice and aired on the DStv satellite platform.  These channels are known for providing sports content in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana and other African countries where the DSTV services are available.

Earlier on, Multichoice's DSTV disclosed that it in June, it experienced a five-times increase in the number of users on its streaming platform, DSTV Now app.

The company added that live sports streaming is at the peak in the usage figures for DStv Now because since the start of the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup football tournament in Russia, there is an average weekday usage of up to 60 percent. The Nigeria vs Argentina match which held on 26 June 2018 at the FIFA World Cup was one event that led to an absolute viewership peak.
