MTN, StarTimes Allies To Launch TV App in Uganda

Leading telecoms operator MTN Uganda has announced its collaboration with the Chinese owned pay-tv company, StarTimes Uganda to offer special promotional MTN TV bundles for viewers to watch StarTimes channels for as low as $0.51 US (for two hours) and $1.02  (for four hours) daily using the StarTimes mobile app.

Chief Marketing Officer MTN Uganda,  Olivier Prentout said; “We are excited at this partnership with StarTimes Uganda because it is in tandem with our vision of delivering innovative, bold and new digital world to our subscribers. As a  market leader in paid TV, StarTimes subscriptions reach the widest range of customers across the nation. This deal is important in ensuring that more customers get access to seamless internet access and TV content.”

According to Aldrine Nsubuga, Vice President and Brand & Marketing Director of StarTimes Uganda:  " Partnering with Africa's Communication giants is a milestone for us at StarTimes, and we are delighted to be launching this partnership with the market leader in Uganda. The ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup is the largest single event in the world, and everyone wants to participate. As an official broadcaster of the tournament, this innovation should afford every Ugandan with a phone the opportunity to enjoy the trending FIFA World Cup at an affordable rate and a convenient time of their choice.”

Prentout also pointed out that: “With more and more people owning smartphones, internet-connected devices as well as steady internet connection, customers will want something that will be mandatorily on the go. The only way to do this is to have uncapped internet access to all their devices. We are certain that the partnership between both companies can make that happen."
