South Africa: Public Broadcaster - SABC - Appoints New Group CEO And CFO
The new executives who are taking over from former CEO acting Ms Nomsa Philiso and former acting CFO, Ms Thabile Dlaminiare will begin their responsibilities at different dates, the CEO from July 1, and the CFO from Monday, June 25.
According to Board Chairperson Bongumusa Makhathini, the appointments were in line with the board's commitment to continuously ensure stability within the organisation.
Makhathini said:"Madoda Mxakwe comes with a wealth of great skills and expertise to the SABC, which he acquired from senior executive positions in business, communications and public affairs both in the public and private sector, local and international. We saw him as the appropriate choice because he has the necessary insight on how to transform businesses."
Mxakwe has obtained an MA (Global Political Economy) from Sussex University in the UK, PGD in Business Administration from Gordon Institute of Business School (GIBS) and Executive Leadership Developments certificates from London Business School. He has served as the country head in Nestle Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland Lesotho and Botswana.
The new CFO Van Biljon also comes with years of experiences garnered from her service in different organisations including Denel Dynamics, a division of Denel SOC Ltd, where she made a meaningful contribution and participated in the turnaround of the organisation as Manager for Finance Accounting and later CFO.
Makhathini said Van Biljon hold a B Com (Accounting), B Compt (Hons), B Comm (Hons) and M Comm (Taxation) and is a Chartered Accountant since 1996.
SABC's Chairperson is proud to say that these appointments reflect diversity concerning skills, age, gender and race.
The national broadcaster also recently appointed new executives into the positions of the COO, Head of Internal Audit, Group Executive: News and Current Affairs as well as Human Resources and Group Executive.
