Cartoon Network Seeks New Animation Talents From Africa

In order to reinforce the local relevance of its brand, leading entertainment network for kids, Cartoon Network Africa has announced the introduction of their new initiative called "Cartoon Network Africa Creative Lab", an African project designed to bring innovative, local short form content to its terrestrial channel and digital platforms.

Taking advantage of Africa's storytelling abilities, Cartoon Network seeks to bring in local content which offers an experience that resonates with its African audience.

The Cartoon Network Africa Creative Lab project is aimed at encouraging African talents such as writers, creators, graphic artists, animation students, voice over actors among others. Anyone who is interested in kids’ content and would like to explore the world of creative, animation and production have the chance to produce a short-form animated comedy that would make Cartoon Network viewers in the continent would enjoy.

Entries for the Cartoon Network Africa Creative Lab will be open from 7 June until 31 August 2018 across Africa. For eligibility, entrants should be 18 years and above. African-based companies can also submit a one-minute to a three-minute creative short project which must fit into the comedy genre and align with the channel's values of smart, contemporary humorous and random.

The announced winners would then get the opportunity to have their project produced as a pilot with Cartoon Network Africa and will premiere on its channel and digital platforms
