Countdown To AMVCA 2018, Debbie Odutayo Announced As Head Judge
As the very first Nigerian female judge for the AMVCA, Debbie comes on board over 30 years of experience in television production, content creation and administration. She is known to be one of the forces behind the entertainment production company known as Royal Roots Communication Network, operator of Royal Roots Television (R2TV) and Royal Roots FM (R2 92.9FM) in Ibadan, South West, Nigeria.
According to Director, M-Net West Africa, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, Odutayo's appointment expresses Africa Magic's commitment to professionalism and excellence. Debbie is a respected and successful television professional who comes with a varying degree of experience which would be needed at the AMVCA judging process. Appointing her as Head Judge shows that AMVCAs is regarded as the largest celebration of film and television talent in Africa."
Odutayo has served as the first woman President of the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN), an organised body for Corporate TV Content Producers in Nigeria. As a massive contributor to the media and entertainment industry, she belongs to other institutions like the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP).
Mba-Uzoukwu said: “Besides being acknowledged as a force to be reckoned with in the African film and TV space, Debbie also has experience with the AMVCA judging process, because she has worked on previous editions. We are excited to have her with us as Head Judge. So, our viewers should stay tuned as preparations for the show gets into the final stages.”
