MultiChoice Names Kenyan Stephen Isaboke As Head Of All Units Across Africa

Subscriber TV firm, MultiChoice Africa has appointed a Kenyan, Stephen Isaboke, to run the affairs of units of its company across the continent.

The newly appointed Isaboke whose base will be in Dubai, United Arab Emirates,  joined MultiChoice Africa in January 2008 as general manager for its operation in Kenya and later was promoted in November 2011 to head operations in East Africa.

Speaking of the new appointment, MultiChoice Africa Chief Executive, Brand de Villiers said: "This new era will strengthen the firm in the wake of rising competition in the pay television space. Appointing Isaboke to run our affairs in Africa will play a significant role in the delivery of the kind of experience our customers want. We are committed to putting this goal as the foundation of our corporate culture and values."

According to Isaboke: “I am happy and proud to have been part of the story of the development of media and entertainment in Africa and especially at the way local content has developed. These happened at a time of disruption with major shifts in consumer habits brought about by the convergence of television and mobile technologies".

The dominance of Multichoice Africa in the Pay-TV space is facing stiff competition from  Kwesé, a subscription tv operated by  Econet Wireless. Kwesé has been showing its intention to tap as much share of the lucrative entertainment and media sector.
