Nigeria: TStv Launch Of Pay-As-You-Consume TV Rattles DStv, StarTimes, Others

In Nigeria, Multichoice DStv/GOtv and StarTimes and other emerging payTV providers seem to be facing a tough competitive change as the new Pay-Tv company, Telcom Satellite TV (TStv) launches Pay-as-You-Consume model and data bundle.

TStv plans to roll out its pay-as-you-consume TV model on October 1, 2017, a feat which goes head-to-head with the current PayTV subscription model in Nigeria.

According to industry watchers, the introduction of the TStv’s pay-as-you-consume plan is aimed at attracting more subscribers and providing Nigerians with high-quality video, radio and internet services at a cheaper rate.

If successfully implemented, TStv will replicate the revolutionary feat accomplished in 2003 by Globacom in the telecoms industry with the introduction of per second billing system (PSB) in Nigeria.
