SABC's Contract With TV License Fee Collection Agency Has Been Revoked!

A High Court in Johannesburg, South Africa has struck-off the contract between the South African Broadcasting Corporation SABC and LornaVision, its TV license fee collection agency.

The Court said that the contract to collect TV license fee awarded to LornaVision and signed off by former acting CEO James Aguma was "highly irregular"  and "did not go through the required tendering process", and can, therefore, be set aside.

On the back of this, Mr Kaizer Kyanyago, SABC's spokesperson has confirmed that the contract with LornaVision is effectively terminated, subject to any appeal by the other party.

BMA could not reach LornaVision for a response as at of the time of writing this piece.
