South Africa: MultiChoice Delighted With Digital TV 'No-Encryption' Verdict

MultiChoice South Africa has expressed great delight with the recent South Africa's Constitutional Court judgement in favour of non-encryption of set-top boxes for digital TV services in the country.

Earlier in the battle, the former communications minister of South Africa, Ms Faith Muthambi had challenged the Court of Appeal's ruling that says set-top boxes must carry encryption.

A statement from Multichoice South Africa said the company is delighted with the Constitutional Court's verdict, and hope that the overdue digital TV migration can now move forward. According to the organisation, the fear mongering surrounding the whole no-encryption policy is unfounded.
